Artificial Fish Habitat Placement
USACE staff along with numerous volunteers will be placing constructed fish habitat within the lake basin to provide additional habitat to the fisheries ecosystem. This project requires many hands both on shore and in boats to make placement operate smooth. Volunteers with boats are welcomed as well to help assist with the transport from shore to the designated placement spot.

Event details

USACE will be placing a total of 100 "crappie cubes" within a several acre area on the Lick Creek arm of Mark Twain Lake. The structres are a 4X4X4 ft cube made from mostly PVC and drain pipe. These structures will be located on the Ray Behrens boat ramp. Transport will require the cube to be loaded onto boats to then be shuttled approximately 2 miles one way to the destination. USACE will have a representative on site to show the exact placement of the structure into the water from the boat. Once the structure is placed, the process will be repeated until all 100 cubes are submerged.
