Ocean Drive Coastal Cleanup
For the benefit of the Federally-threatened Piping Plover and other shorebirds, volunteers are needed to help clear litter and debris from all areas of Ocean Drive between the North Gate, and the Oso Bay bridge. This area is adjacent to important shorebird habitat. The cleanup will prevent litter, trash, and debris from disrupting the piping plover and other shorebirds using the coastal sand-flat habitat.

For the benefit of the Federally-threatened Piping Plover and other shorebirds, volunteers are needed to help clear litter and debris from all areas of Ocean Drive between the North Gate, and the Oso Bay bridge.  This area is adjacent to important shorebird habitat.  The cleanup will prevent litter, trash, and debris from disrupting the piping plover and other shorebirds using the coastal sand-flat habitat.

Volunteers will meet near the Oso Bay Bridge at 0800 on 27 September 2025.  Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes, and sun protection clothing.  Gloves, trash pickers, and litter bags will be provided.  The event will start with a short safety brief, and will conclude after a short question and answer session about Piping plover and other common shorebirds using the sandflat.1
