With the completion of the long-awaited Palo Flechado trail, we're hosting a day of volunteer trail maintenance to get the trail in tip top shape for the official ribbon cutting!

What to Expect:

  • A day filled with fun, community, and trail maintenance on the newest addition to the Carson National Forest's trail system.
  • Work will mostly consist of touching up the trail surface: removing rocks, benching (leveling), and widening the trail.  We will be using tools like pick mattocks, McLeods, shovels, and hoes.
  • The trail starts at about 9,000' and steadily climbs for 2 miles until reaching the intersection with the Elliott Barker trail. We'll be hiking about 4-4.5 miles roundtrip.

 What to Bring:

  • Please wear long pants, sturdy hiking shoes/work boots, work gloves, and eye protection (sunglasses okay), and a day pack with plenty of food and water, sunscreen, layers, and rain gear.
  • We will be on the trail all day and not returning to the cars for lunch.

ECTA will provide the hard hats and tools

We hope to see you there!
