Red Rock Canyon NCA: Caring for Our Shared America
Join us as we honor our shared lands through hands-on stewardship projects across Red Rock Canyon. Volunteers can take part in a Canyon Cleanup at Red Spring, removing litter from the boardwalk, trails, parking areas, and picnic sites to help protect the area’s natural resources. Those interested in observation and photography can participate in a Photo-blitz at Red Spring, documenting plants, wildlife, geology, visitor use, and stewardship actions — with contributions supporting a public photo book, the Red Rock Canyon digital library, and iNaturalist. Volunteers may also assist with Snail Collection at Willow Springs, removing invasive decollate snails to help restore habitat health. A Trail Project will also be offered (location TBD), involving trail maintenance such as rock work, raking, digging, and tool-based tasks. Together, these projects reflect a shared commitment to conservation and community — truly Celebrating the Triumph of the American Spirit.

In the spirit of Caring for Our Shared America, your efforts help sustain this extraordinary landscape as a place where communities feel connected, welcomed, and rooted.

Exciting Volunteer Opportunities Await!

This year, we are offering a variety of hands-on stewardship projects across Red Rock Canyon NCA:

  • Red Spring & Calico Basin Litter Cleanup
Help protect natural resources by removing litter from the Red Spring Boardwalk, Calico Basin Trail, parking areas, picnic sites, and surrounding areas. Volunteers will receive a safety briefing and tools, then work in small groups led by BLM Rangers and Southern Nevada Conservancy staff.
  • Calico Basin Photo‑Blitz & Bio‑Blitz
Join our interactive Photo‑blitz, capturing images of plants, wildlife, geology, visitor use, and stewardship activities throughout Calico Basin. Your photos will support a public photo book, the Red Rock Canyon digital library, and iNaturalist—making this event function as a Bio‑blitz as well.
  • Invasive Decollate Snail Removal at Willow Spring
Help restore habitat health by removing invasive decollate snails. Training is provided on-site, and this project directly benefits native species and ecological balance.
  • Trail Maintenance Project (Location TBA)
Take part in essential trail maintenance, including rock work, raking, digging, lining, and other tool‑based tasks. This project may involve up to two miles of walking and moderate physical activity.

Together, these volunteer opportunities reflect a shared commitment to conservation and community—truly Celebrating the Triumph of the American Spirit.
