When to meet: Saturday, September 26 at 8:00am and we will be working until 12:00pm.
Where to meet: OVLC Office located on the old Honor Farm, 370 W Baldwin Road, Building A4, Ojai, CA 93023. At the office, we will consolidate into a few vehicles and drive out to the worksite through the OVLC Ventura River Preserve. If you need directions or are running late, please call our Preserve Manager at 805-212-0445.
What we'll be doing: Creating a new reroute section of trail by cutting vegetation with hand saws and loppers, then removing the stumps with picks and shovels, before building new tread with hoes and rakes. OVLC staff and volunteer crew leaders will be onsite to provide all the guidance necessary.
What to bring: There are some patches of poison oak in the area, so please wear pants and long sleeve shirts. Closed-toed shoes are required for this project, preferably boots. OVLC will provide snacks and drinks, but please bring more of your own as well, especially extra water. It is recommended that you also bring:
- Gloves
- Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunblock)
* You should expect to get dirty, so don't wear nice clothes!
