Bring the whole family out to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge to spend the morning learning about the role of fire in prairie ecosystems and help mitigate the risk of extreme wildfires by removing invasive vegetation and other excess fuel.
The Refuge has been working to re-introduce fire to this landscape, and we’ll get to see the positive effects of fire in improving habitat for the unique plants and wildlife at the Refuge, while we help prepare the landscape for future prescribed burns. At the end of the project WRV will provide lunch to celebrate our accomplishments. The Refuge is easily accessible, located just outside of Denver, and is home to species including bison and black-footed ferrets.

Trae a toda la familia en el Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Rocky Mountain Arsenal para pasar la mañana aprendiendo sobre el rol del fuego en los ecosistemas de pradera y ayudar a mitigar el riesgo de incendios extremos por limpiar vegetación invasora y quitar otros materiales combustibles excesos.
El refugio se está trabajando para reintroducir el fuego en este paisaje, y tenemos la oportunidad de ver los efectos positivos del fuego en mejorar el hábitat para las plantas y vida silvestre únicas del refugio, mientras que ayudamos a preparar el terreno para futuros quemas prescritas. Al fin del proyecto WRV pone el almuerzo para celebrar nuestros logros. El refugio es bien accesible, ubicado justo en las afueras de Denver, y cuenta con especies carismáticas como bisontes y hurones de pies negros.
