The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge’s annual Refuge Day is a free, family-friendly celebration held at the Visitor Center, featuring wildlife activities, crafts, and live animals. It’s designed to celebrate the refuge and its mission, offering activities for all ages.

Typical Activities:

Wildlife activity booths – interactive exhibits and educational displays about the refuge’s native species 

Arts and crafts – hands-on activities for children and families.

Face painting – fun, colorful face painting stations

Black-footed ferret exhibit – see live ferrets in their habitat near the visitor center

Live animals – animals from local partners like Nature’s Educators and The Urban Farm

Try-it archery – a short archery experience at the refuge’s range (noon–2:00 pm)

No registration necessary! This event is a great way to connect with nature, learn about local wildlife, and enjoy hands-on, family-friendly fun in one of Colorado’s largest urban wildlife refuges.
