Come celebrate and create at Shenandoah National Park! For National Public Lands Day, The Shenandoah National Park Trust will be hosting Art in the Park events on Friday, September 26th and Saturday, September 27th. Public workshops will take place near the Big Meadows Wayside and will explore mediums such as watercolor, photography, fiber art, printmaking, and music. No registration needed! Art in the Park events are open and free to the public! September 27th is also a fee free day, so come enjoy your public lands!
A service project to help maintain the Big Meadows will be hosted on September 27th from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Volunteers will further efforts to reduce woody vegetation growing in the Big Meadows by hauling out locusts tree logs. Removing the woody vegetation from the meadow maintains its unique cultural and environmental significance. Volunteers will be joined by park staff to learn more about the botanic significance of Big Meadows and why this work is important.
