Celebrate National Public Lands Day with the U.S. Forest Service and SOLVE and help protect the western snowy plovers! Please join us for a beach cleanup on Saturday, September 26th at Siltcoos Beach Day Use Area, which is a critical nesting area for plovers from mid-March to mid-September.
We will meet at the Siltcoos Beach Day Use Area parking lot at 10am. Following a brief safety discussion, volunteers will learn a bit about Oregon's most adorable, threatened shorebird, and the ways they can help to protect them. We will then provide gloves and trash receptacles, and head out onto the beach for a two-hour cleanup. Be prepared to hike up and over the dune to access the beach. Please wear sturdy walking shoes, bring water, and dress in layers as wind and weather can be unpredictable on the coast. We hope to see you there!
