The staff of the Black Rock Field Office, along with local partners – Friends of Black Rock-High Rock, Stewards on the Black Rick Desert and Friends of Nevada Wilderness will host National Public Land’s Day (NPLD) on Saturday, September 27th, 2025.

This volunteer-driven event will continue the tradition of providing quality volunteer opportunities that benefit the local community, enhance recreational opportunities, and promote environmental stewardship. This year's event will include sign installations, removing fences and improving the public cabin.

Soldier Meadows ACEC is approximately 60 miles north of Gerlach, Nevada. Participants are encouraged to camp out for the weekend, bring proper clothing for the weather and service projects. Volunteers are advised to bring plenty of water and sun protection.
