On Saturday, September 27, 2025, more local volunteers will join thousands more across the nation visiting their favorite parks, beaches, wildlife preserves, or forests and chip in to help improve these treasured places. They’ll be taking part in National Public Lands Day (NPLD), the largest single-day volunteer event for public lands in our country. This year marks the 32nd annual National Public Lands Day, an event that brings together thousands of volunteers from coast to coast to improve and restore the lands and facilities that Americans use for recreation, education, and just plain enjoyment.
Our volunteers will focus on removing invasive plants and picking up trash from Fortress Rosecrans, Murfreesboro's Old Fort Park, and the Lytle Creek Greenway. Registration is required and can be completed at https://forms.office.com/g/C5iWRZPg7Y. Volunteers will park near the Old Fort Park baseball field and check-in at the picnic pavilion located between the Kids Castle and the tennis courts. Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes and long pants and are encouraged to bring a long sleeve shirt. Volunteers should also bring a water bottle.
