BLM Strawberry Meadow Zeedyk Build Day:

Strawberry Meadow is a wet meadow system located east of Atlantic City and a tributary of Strawberry Creek. Strawberry Meadow is undergoing restoration actions to address headcuts and channelization. A headcut is a knick-point in a wet meadow system that is a product of erosion, headcuts can grow and form an incised channel if not addressed. Zeedyks are one tool to address erosion in a wet meadow system. There are two main types of Zeedyk structures; Zeedyks that perform preservative actions, like halting a headcut, or restorative structures. The BLM will teach volunteers how to build preservative structures, like a "Zuni bowl" and restorative structures, such as a "One Rock Dam". What to bring?: Water, lunch, sun protection (there is no shade), work gloves, long pants and sturdy shoes. The BLM will provide tools.  Please RSVP by calling Michael Coyne at (307) 332-8428.
