Help keep your community beautiful by supporting The Tollgate Arboretum and Donelson Welcome signs.  You can serve by collecting litter, pruning trees and shrubs, weeding, planting, and installing our new Tree Identification Signs. Gloves, safety vests, and tools will be provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

Meet at the Tollbooth Arboretum on the corner of Lebanon Pike and Stewarts Ferry Pike, street parking available on Donelsonwood Dr. and the parking lot at Donelson Middle School. Once we finish work there, we will move to the other locations as time allows.

The Donelson Gateway Project is a community of volunteers focused on beautifying the gateways to Donelson’s neighborhoods and business district. This grassroots effort began in 2007, following a state project to expand Briley Parkway, when a group of neighbors worked together to landscape the area nearby. Since then, The Donelson Gateway Project has expanded to several additional sites, organized dozens of cleanup events, and spearheaded the installation of public art across our community.

We were most recently recognized by the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council For for Donelson's certified arboretum. It was certified us in 2024, meeting the requirements of tree diversity, education, and maintenance. The Tollgate site at Lebanon and Stewarts Ferry Pikes is a level one arboretum, which means it has at least 30 distinct species of trees, provides experiential education for the public, and models stewardship practices for a healthy and safe arboretum.   #donelsongatewayproject #arboretum #keepdonelsonbeautiful
