2026 Veterans and Nature Grant

PHW Bozeman will offer veterans in Montana’s Beaverhead River Recreation Corridor the opportunity to build fly-fishing skills through rod building, training, and guided outings. The program also connects participants with local water ecology and conservation, with veterans playing a strong role as leaders and peer volunteers.

One More Wave will offer veterans at Carlin Park in Florida a four-week program combining ocean recreation, guided wellness activities, and peer connection. Participants will also develop their own outdoor wellness plans, helping them continue using time in nature as a resource after the program ends.

On the Line Fishing will bring veterans together for twice-monthly small-group fishing trips across several Oklahoma waterways, led by veteran mentors. The program pairs time outdoors with guided reflection and ongoing opportunities for participants to stay connected with the veteran community.

No Barriers Warriors Program: Backcountry Expedition for Veteran Wellness will take veterans on a five-day backpacking expedition in Colorado’s State Forest State Park. The experience combines outdoor challenge, wellness activities, volunteer service, and continued peer connection after participants return home.

Vets & Pets Retreat will bring veterans, their families, and their pets together for an all-inclusive weekend at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. Fishing, paddle boarding, forest therapy, and access to veteran-focused health providers create multiple ways for participants to reconnect with nature and one another.
