Beaver Lake Volunteer Day is an annual event in Arkansas dedicated to preserving the health and beauty of Beaver Lake. The event features shoreline and boat-based litter cleanups, with volunteers encouraged to bring their own boats. After the cleanup, participants gather at Hickory Creek Park for a lunch and a educational booths, where organizations shared data from Secchi Day and discuss efforts to protect the lake. Tasks include staining and improving fences, removing encroaching weeds, and performing partial trail maintenance to ensure the area is safe and welcoming. Registration will begin around 8:00 a.m. at the Historic Longmire Gas Station. After a brief welcome at 8:45, participants will divide into work groups including trails, revegetation, campground upkeep, and other projects. Volunteers should come prepared for any kind of weather, with warm clothing, rain gear, sturdy footwear, and gloves. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and hats are also recommended. Volunteers should also bring water, snacks, and a lunch. Entrance fees are waived on National Public Lands Day.

For the benefit of the Federally-threatened Piping Plover and other shorebirds, volunteers are needed to help clear litter and debris from all areas of Ocean Drive between the North Gate, and the Oso Bay bridge. Join us for the 2025 Buckeye Trail (BT) Blue Blaze Festival and explore the diversity and beauty of the outdoors. This year we will be joining forces with Destination Shawnee, the Tecumseh Theater and outdoor recreational organizations to bring together runners, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts to the Village of Shawnee. This section of the Buckeye Trail, in the Wayne National Forest, is mostly single-track trail and provides some very challenging terrain.

Active conservation of endangered species at JBLM is an important part of not only stewarding a healthy and resilient ecosystem, but in providing military training flexibility to promote mission readiness. This year's National Public Lands Day event will help restore habitat for Federally Endangered Taylor's checkerspot butterflies, as well as several species of rare native birds, bees, and bats. Join our biologists for a work party and ecological tour at Clear Creek Prairie, where will be conducting post-fire brush removal, installing mason bee blocks, and building new purple martin nest towers and bat roost boxes.
