Veterans and Nature Grant Program (2024-2025)
Enhancing well-being through outdoor experiences
NEEF and the United States Forest Service aim to increase engagement of veterans’ communities in understanding the physical and mental health benefits of time in nature and provide opportunities for physical and mental health-focused outdoor activities at US Forest Service sites and other public lands. A total of $100,000 was made available for projects that meet specific criteria, including engaging Black, Indigenous, and veterans of color, as well as gender diverse and veterans with disabilities.

The 2024 National Public Lands Day Signature Event was featured in At Ease Veterans Magazine, a publication for military personnel, veterans, and their families.
For the 2024 National Public Lands Day Signature Event, NEEF worked with the USDA Forest Service and Friends of the National Arboretum (FONA) to host several educational and volunteer activities at the Washington Youth Garden within the US National Arboretum in Washington, DC.
