2023: Celebrating the 30th Annual NPLD
For the 30th annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD), NEEF commissioned artist Anna Ferrara to create a meaningful illustration that reflected the efforts of volunteers and the enjoyment of public lands across the United States, Puerto Rico, and US Territories. The artwork was widely shared on social media, banners, and flyers, and well-received by event organizers. Its success marked the start of a new tradition.
2024: Together for Tomorrow
In 2024, NEEF continued this tradition by partnering with artist Eloy Sanchez-Vizcaino Mengual around the theme "Together for Tomorrow." The illustration reflected NPLD's core message of intergenerational stewardship, capturing the spirit of volunteers across all 50 states and US territories coming together to care for public lands for future generations. Like the year before, the artwork was shared broadly across NPLD communications and well-received by the community.
2025: Our Home Outdoors
In 2025, NEEF partnered with artist and Air Force veteran Lindsay "Bones" Cordero to create an illustration centered on the theme "Our Home Outdoors." The piece is a collage of paintings representing iconic landscapes from across the country, featuring a cast of plant and animal species, each with its own conservation story.
NEEF also created an interactive StoryMap inviting viewers to explore the full illustration and learn about the real species, landscapes, and places depicted. Cordero's work reflects her belief that we protect what we care about, and the illustration was designed to give every viewer, no matter where they are from, a sense of connection to the natural world..
